Last Friday, we met with Gary, Marci, Beth, Hector, and Ross for a productive conversation regarding the work that Hector, Beth, and others have been doing to incorporate additional State Core elements into the next version of CEDS. Specifically, the meeting focused on which elements from the list of State Core-EdFacts maps should be added. Hector and Beth have done an excellent job analyzing those maps and recommending next steps for individual elements. Likewise, Ross and Barbara have been very helpful with validating and improving the State Core-EdFacts maps that this latest analysis is based on.
During the meeting, we addressed several questions that have come up. For example, in some cases, EdFacts and State Core elements have slightly different code sets or definitions. When we release the next version of the State Core Model, we plan to incorporate the recommended updates.
We also discussed questions such as whether states should store derivable EdFacts elements like "Student Status at Count Point in Time." The consensus in the room was that it made the most sense to put that question to the states.
